Vines and prints

1st of February

Well today I had nothing to do for the morning as I was meeting my mum in town for coffee in the afternoon.......was really nice as my nan turned up too, but yeah for the morning I was basically kicking about the house with my dog fast asleep next to the raidiator and not moving and my cat following me like a lost sheep and then disappearing to sleep next to windows or on rather unbalanced piles of objects around the house...........

so todays theme was based around green, as the dye in my fringe is pityfully trying to survive and really only the green is succeeding.......also my roots are starting to show where my fringe has grown out slightly, reminding me that my natural hair colour is basically black =_=;; is it bad that I forgot that?

I honestly thought it was a dark brown colour...........meh, nevermind! Also my jumper thing is meant to be rainbowy but is mostly green............so yeah, pretty much a green theme going on today.....

So I drew some vines with grape leaves twirling down from my eye...........

so here I am in my jumper thing from TopShop that swamps me but keeps me warm........with my chunky bead necklace that gradually gets bigger beads towards the bottom......

it's funny actually as I was really happy today, but looking outside Loofers at all the people in Colchester walking by - I realised something.........the people in colchester recently are really moody looking.......whether it's because of the rain today (it normally rains, so really they should be used to it!) or because it feels like Winter ALL OVER AGAIN! (literally feels like it's going to snow again =_=;; )

everyone looked thoroughly blocked out - meaning everyone was wearing VERY dark colours

and everyone looked thoroughly depressed.........

but yeah, so there were a few who had some brightness about them......mostly girls though.......I saw one with Bright red hair, one with a shocking pink fringe and this one girl who looked like a traveller from a fantasy novel.......I count that as a good thing but I doubt she'd wish to hear that :-S

ok...........so the vine is pretty basic, just black eyeliner and some green glitter eyeliner......

the tricky part is get the vine to thin out and not fade.........so be warned if anyone attempts this O_O;;

heh see.......I also have Blue metallic by Barry M eyeliner on the underneath of my eye and fake lash, it's strange as close up it looks cool, far away it looks cool but normal talking distance makes me look all tired and weird looking :(

Oh yeah, so this is proof that I didn't eat anything...............

ONLY KIDDING!! heh as everyone who knows me by now would tell you, it's a normal occurance to take a photo of me eating.......luckily this photo was taken before I'd actually decided on eating anything, but yeah Humous and Pitta in Loofers is awesome so that was my lunch for today! :) Just incase you wondered :-P

Ok, so yeah as I said I basically did nothing this morning so I ended up going through some old work from last year...........I really need to throw some stuff out, but in the midst of all that I found some photos of this work that I did as a laugh and because I became obsessed with print last year.........

so yeah, I actually looked into wallpaper and made my own.........this was a patch of a first attempt, so it's not perfect but then again I didn't want them to be perfect........all of them are hand stamped using a lino cutting that I designed...........

decided to try it actually on a wall...........turns out it's a lot of work to do this and it would have been a lot easier if I'd made it for a screen print as then I could have also made more than one print at a time.........but yeah, you need to experiment to learn what to do :)

wanted to see how it would look in colour........the black and white looks really old fashioned and these came out rather.........um...........story book-ish I guess?

heh, I ended up using the wallpaper I'd made to display these random pieces of work that I'd done.......my styles changed a lot since this, but I'm still proud of it........

this was one of my favourites...........I really love doing cross hatching drawings in ink, this is a photocopy of one of my drawings that I then carried on the lines to create a kind of stitched effect.........

I really liked how this turned out and it's rather strange when you look at it as it feels like the lines are threads pulling the image out of it's casing in the frame.......

some more odd little pieces that I'd stuck up.......the one of the left was an attempt to see and image within an image........the hand worked brilliantly but the white lines needed to be thinner........

so this was my little patch of a surreal victorian residence that was my working space.........eventually I had to take it all down, but I had really wanted to play with a semi installation where I'd create half a stair case at the bottom of the wall and probably a few inches of a table with half a lamp stuck onto the wall as well......

Shame I didn't really as it would've been fun and I feel it would have made a marvelous picture.......

Still, this was a great success and I'm pondering on turning it into a card or post card of some sort now that I've found it again..........

Alice in Wonderland

Monday 31st January

Ok, sooooooooo..................all of last week was utter shut down on my life, as I stayed at home and just worked on my art for deadline........

Meaning I have nothing to show you for last week.......sorry, but my art is really important to me and I want to do well in it...............like I said last time, my deadlines are far apart and only happen once a year BUT they will happen, so as long as I keep up to date and keep posting PLEASE don't abandon me just because I miss a few days during a deadline............otherwise, if a few days are late then I was either away somewhere or ill - meaning they'll still be done and posted within a few days..........

Right, so after that small informational - here's today!

today I got to hang out with my friend Nikki, who works in London most of the time so I basically never see her anymore! So when she gets weeks or the occassional weekend off and comes down to Colchester, we normally attempt a small catch up.........

 here I am looking decidedly stupid, sitting in Nero's with dear Nikki filling my camera with 10 pics of this one picture because she thought it'd be funny =_=;;

first off, I did have a really nice picture of her.......not that this doesn't look nice! But she does look like a zombie here, anyway she decided to delete the pictures of her........so this is her punishment, as I wasn't able to save any other picture of her!

she REALLY looks bored with me ^_^;;

yeah, I look fairly insane............it was really funny as well, as earlier Nikki and I went to get lunch and we were both asked to show our ID as Nikki was getting a drink of something.........yeah, my ID looks nothing like me! It is me!! But it was me before I cut my hair and curled it, also the picture was taken when I didn't really wear a lot of make up......so my picture looks like this really normal quiet girl, heh so the woman kept looking up at me and down at my ID again and again.......kind of reminds me of when I have to show my passport to people in the airport =_=;; everyone's a comdian!

So yeah, I had to explain that I'd changed my look a bit since it was taken........luckily she understood and thankfully it was without the comment that I normally get in the airports, where all security think it's funny to say that 'women always change their looks, but yours is a bit extreme' =_=;;

today was Alice in Wonderland themed, mainly because I was wearing my mad hatter necklace and ring again from Disney Couture...........so yeah, this is basically my attempt at copying the illustration onto my face........I don't think I did it well enough, so yeah.......but at least I gave it a go! ^_^

Nikki commented on how plain it looked............so I think next time I need to add some colour to it to make it look right.......maybe :-S

ok, well I found thursday's picture..........which is a fairly bad try at a Repo! image, but at least I tried.........heh you can tell I'm starting to feel the effects of 2 hours sleep every night as I look dreadful! XD

meant to be Repo Man, who comes to reposses the organs of those in debt to GeneCo and who can't pay back their debts.............

ah yeah................I feel bad for missing out a week, so as an apology I will be doing the 7 designs that I had come up with for that week and posting them.........I'd worked out exactly what I'd wanted to do everyday last week, but like I said with my work it was just impossible to go through with them.........so yeah, keep an eye out as they should be up here during this week.......... :-D

here's some of the work I was doing for my deadline, thought I'd show you some particular pieces that took some time to do...........this is based on Max Ernst (?) who used Victorian etchings and illustration to make surreal collages that looked almost real............I love his work and made my own collages, but rather than leaving them I then drew from them using charcoal..........hope you like them!

as you can see the one above is where I started and this is how it grew..........I didn't have time to take a pic of this complete, but this was one of my favourites once I'd finished it :)

oh yeah!!! My cat has discovered that he likes playing snooker and pool...........but he doesn't see the point in potting the balls...........

yeah, everytime one of the balls fell in he tried to find and rescue it as his favourite toys are balls...........I had to post this pic as it was soooo funny when he did this, he didn't hurt himself by the way, he easily got his head back out he didn't get stuck and I did not force him to do this!! So no animal rights-ing me, as I did nothing to him and he was rather pleased that he now knows where the balls go! ^_^

Rose and Stereos

Saturday 22nd of January

 simple rose and thorn...........not coloured in as I thought I'd show a simple one, as normally I'd fill in with colour and lose the original image........this is kind of me showing that it starts more complicated looking than it finished normally..........

so yeah just black eyeliner for this one..........

know what I've learnt? that I don't suit black eyeshadow............it just makes me look like I'm falling asleep!!!

ah yes!! I want these sunglasses!!! See I normally don't post about stuff that I want to buy, but here are a few exceptions! I love the shape and colour of these, so if I have enough money these will be mine for the summer..........

they're soooooooooo cool!!! XD

ok, so maybe I might get these as well!! AH!! I love strange shaped sunglasses, actually I have to wear reading glasses on odd occassions and if I'm honest I want some strange frames for my glasses which no where in colchester do :'(

I mean, you know the 50's face furniture as they were called - a kind of dulled down dame edna kinda look, well I love those styles they had, round ones in bright colours, triangular, square with swirls...........

so yeah, I would look like a mega wierdo and be soooo happy about it but alas no spec shop shares my vision (if there was a bad joke in there then I apologise, it wasn't meant like that!)

Mwahahahaha!! I found the glasses on the interwebs, as the ones above are vintage whereas these are by Vera Wang - only problem is I can't afford these ones :(

Aren't these cute?!?! heh I have the Panda for my ipod and it's amazing!!! you place your hand on their ears to alter the volume of your music and their noses glow to show they're on!

But yeah, they didn't have the cat or the dog when I bought my panda, but even if they did I still think I'd have bought my panda anyway as he's the cutest thing ever!! XD

then again this does have a collar and looks sooooooo cute!! hmm............no my panda would cry if I bought him :(

so yeah.............I shall end my week catch up with my little cat Garfield, who seems to like posing strangely lately............so yeah, thanks for following and not abandoning me during my time of relentless work and nights of 2hour sleep.......this will be up to date and continue that way by tomorrow, so yeah please keep reading as I'm sooooooo not finished with this yet! ^_^

Clouds and Stars

Friday the 21st.....

Ok, so there's no thursday which is annoying, but I can't do much about that right now so lets skip ahead to Friday the 21st of January which is the day that apparently CONDRON saw me in town........which really shocked me as I know she's following this blog but I didn't realise she was in Colchester ^_^ Anyway, it was cool to see your comment CONDRON and thankyou very much as it's nice to know that someone out there likes how I look..........so yeah, thankyou for following my blog as muddled as it can be and as late as it's normally posted.............

 so here I was today having a coffee with my friend Vicky Gray, who I hadn't seen during Christmas so we did a late present exchange today..........

here she is looking absolutely lovely today...........

ah yes, she bought a zip bracelet from Claires that ended up being turned into an arm band and as promised here I am posting about it :-P

so today's design was a little bit mystical for once................a swirling clud with stars, it's black eyeliner with gold metallic by Barry M, now I know I seem to always lately use Barry M but it's really good at going over black eyeliner - so if any mistakes are made or if you decide to alter the size of an image on a black design then it really is the eyeliner to use  as it covers brilliantly!

TopHat with embellishment

Wednesday 19th January

 Well here's Lydia who I met up with for the day........as always she's super cute, bright, colourful and scene kiddy (although I know she'll kill me for saying that!)

and here I am, looking like I need more sleep which I did for the past two weeks..........

anyway, it's my victorian dress with the inappropriate bright bra straps (oops), my victorian medal necklace and my Top hat Necklace from Disney Couture........

well here's the design, some silver William Morris-ish leaves curling and holding a gentlemans top hat with a silver band around it.........

wow I REALLY needed sleep huh? Sometimes I think this blog is more to show just how bad I look somedays =_=;; still, at least even when tired I can still draw on my face.........

little close up that's gone kind of blury.........so yeah, black eyeliner and silver glitter........

the leaves of the design are based on the medal that incorporates those all the way through it, heh I also have a Top hat ring from Disney Couture...........

I had to post these.........another big apology present for you all, my little garfield conking out about the house.......he looks so sweet, but he always reminds me how long he's gotten since he was a kitten........
